Tennis Camp

Topspin Tennis Camp

Richmond Hill, GA, continues to benefit from a strong interest in junior tennis. However, until recently, parents of young players often had to travel 30 to 45 minutes each way to access programs that provide the essentials for developing collegiate-level athletes. Last month, Topspin Tennis Camp offered a solution to the community by launching a junior tennis camp that challenges young athletes of all levels. The camp delivers a comprehensive program combining overall tennis fitness, technical workshops with drills, and level-based competition.

Tennis Fitness

Our Tennis Fitness program is one that our athletes both love and hate. We carefully select exercises appropriate for their age, focusing on building strength and mobility specific to the sport of tennis. Topspin Tennis Camp utilizes a combination of plyometrics, bodyweight exercises, and yoga within the Tennis Fitness program. Ultimately, our goal is to help prevent player injuries during practice, competition, and match play.

Technicals and Drills

Topspin provides two full-time tennis coaches for each of our seasonal tennis camps. Occasionally, we invite additional expert coaches to assist with specific areas such as physical fitness or technical aspects of the game. We recognize that every athlete learns differently, and that sometimes a diverse range of coaching styles helps information resonate more effectively. Each session covers the fundamentals, including proper grip technique, volleys, topspin forehands, backhands, and slices. At least once during each seasonal camp, we host a Serve Workshop that dedicates an entire session to serve instruction and improvement. Above all, we are committed to teaching players of all levels and helping them grow in the game of tennis.

Serve Workshop

Above, Coach Don corrects a player’s serve grip during one of our tennis camp sessions. We focus on improving every athlete’s serve, starting with the proper grip and progressing through eight standard checkpoints we look for in a solid serve. These steps help us track each player’s development in both accuracy and power. Although the serve is the most difficult part of tennis to learn and teach, Topspin strives to help every player enhance their serve.

As we wrap up the first week of our Fall Tennis Camp, we’re preparing for the first UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) event in Richmond Hill, GA. This event is open to all junior players ages 9–19 in the Savannah area, and each participant will play three guaranteed, level-based matches within six hours. Every match will be competitive as athletes begin their journey toward improving their UTR rating.

Your UTR Rating is based purely on results and is age & gender-blind. Think of it like a golf handicap, but for tennis. You’ll see the UTR Rating featured during different WTA/ATP events throughout the year, and if you’ve played USTA, you may already have a UTR Rating.

If you’re unable to make it to our event this weekend but would like to join us for one of our Topspin Tennis Camps, please let us know. You can contact us using the form below, email us at support@topspintenniscamp.com, or text us directly at 678-787-2890. We look forward to seeing you on the courts!
